First Venezuelan Week in Malaysia

Let us start with an introduction to highlight this little statement, where by the time difference is about 12 hours -- while people in Kuala Lumpur are having their dinner, those in Caracas would be having their breakfast, and later off to work or school. Although Malaysia and Venezuela have a lot of time difference, and Venezuela is located in the other part of the world, these two countries have a lot in common. The climate, lifestyle, people's friendliness and humbleness, natural resources, and so many others which we are still learning to identify.

Venezuela's beautiful ladies, who have won the Miss Universe and Miss World beauty pageants throughout the years, soap operas which are viewed all over the world and have attracted Malaysian viewers, and its petroleum production -- these are just a few things which put Venezuela in the map. Nevertheless, Venezuela has so much more to be offered, which is yet to be discovered.

The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Malaysia organized the first Venezuelan cultural event in Kuala Lumpur, as a way for the Venezuelan society to better-known in this region. This event took place from July 2 - 9, 2006.

The concert of one of the most famous and well-known guitarists in Latin America, a unique display of photographs by two Venezuelan artists using a toy-like plastic camera to capture the magic of the city and nature in a total of 40 black and white pictures, an exhibition of Venezuelan handicrafts, the screening of various Venezuelan movies, the mouth-watering catering of Venezuela's typical cuisine, dances and parties coupled with the joyfulness of the Venezuelan people made the Venezuelan week a truly memorable one!

The Independence of Venezuela was declared on July 5th, 1811. The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Malaysia was proud to celebrate this auspicious National Day, jointly with the strong and enthusiastic support of Soka Gakkai Malaysia.
